It’s all change at the holding companies as we go into 2017, ‘de-layering’ you might call it. Havas is now.

Hijacking Super Bowl ads (it’s on Sunday) is a traditional American activity for those who don’t want to pay $1m for five seconds – or whatever the rates are now. Here’s an interesting wheeze by SoCal Honda, Honda’s dealers in Southern California. They will donate various amounts to local Boys & Girls Clubs if certain.

We live in a nation divided. Today, no company is safe from a presidential reprimand or widespread outrage and backlash, including damaging boycotts (well deserved, or not). In my estimation, brands must stand for something now more than ever. What’s always been true about differentiating on product attributes is now also true about the community […].

For years we’ve had high profile spots for GoDaddy (being polite here) and now Wix.com is back for its third Super Bowl with an epic (and expensive) crash-bang-wallop starring Jason Stathan amd ‘Wonder Woman’ actress Gal Gadot. In-house, directed by Incredible Hulk.

Now CEO John Seifert, who took over from Miles Young a year or so ago (Young went off to be master of an Oxford college) appears to be trying to rationalise things by placing.
AB Inbev, about to be the owner of SAB Miller, is by far the world’s biggest beer company and it looks like being the Super Bowl’s biggest benefactor too. Say what you like about Lucky Generals, they keep knocking out the ads. Long-time client Paddy Power (something of a miracle in itself) commissions a fair proportion of them, usually topical spins and the like designed to show what a boyo Paddy is. Paddy Power though is now the 600lb gorilla of the betting world.
More Lucky Generals (note to readers, quite understand if you’ve had enough of them for now). Under CEO Tim Lindsay it’s got itself back on the map even as the Cannes International Festival of Creativity (its full moniker) tramples everything else underfoot, outside the US anyway. It has an age-old.
