Reddit Begins Rolling Out the Ability to Add Text to Different Types of Posts

The platform is ungating features that had been power-ups

Some Redditors can now add optional text to their gallery, image, link and video posts.

The platform said in a blog post detailing its updates from June 14 through July 14 that communities that require submission statements or additional context to accompany posts of those types can now consolidate these requirements into the original submission without the need for strict title requirements, Automoderator or sticky comments to share that additional context.

Communities will still have the option of restricting post text body requirements for those posts and target the body of the post using their Automoderator rules.

Reddit said Wednesday that as part of its integration with Giphy that brought GIFs to comments in subreddits, that option was no longer a power-up, and it provided further updates on ungating features that had been power-ups and deprecating the community subscription component:
