On Tuesday, the company announced that James Gunn and Peter Safran would serve as co-chairmen and CEOs of DC Studios, bringing film, TV and animation together under a single banner.

The new division will replace DC Films after head Walter Hamada quietly exited. The appointment of Gunn and Safran ends a months-long search for a new head of DC by CEO David Zaslav.

The pair will lead the development and execution of a long-term plan for the properties licensed from DC Comics.
