Data from 200,000 GBP listings reinforces a continued increase in consumer spending despite economic uncertainty

According to recent research by Rio SEO, the leading provider of an all-in-one local marketing platform proven to increase online visibility, last month’s national consumer search behavior research revealed a continued average month-over-month (MoM) increase in average total searches and listing views across most verticals studied, especially retail and restaurant businesses.

Service businesses and financial services, sit-down restaurants, quick-service restaurants (QSR), hotels and retail brands collectively saw a MoM increase in total listing views and total Google searches. Collectively, we saw a:

  • 15% average increase in average total listing views
  • 10% average increase in average total searches

In July, retail local marketing metrics rebounded MoM with a 14% increase in average listing views, an 8% increase in searches and a 3% increase in clicks. Furthermore, the restaurant industry — quick-service and sit-down — had a significant increase MoM with a 30% and 32% increase in average listing views, 21% and 17% increase in Google searches and 9% and 2% increase in total clicks, respectively.

According to a recent Yelp report, many restaurants are also experiencing an increase in reservations, as well as a high number of requests for both outdoor and indoor seating. Experience-focused dining, like dinner theaters and internet cafes, are expanding as consumers look to find more unique dining options.
