Brid.TV Platform Update 6.4.7. — Huge Player Improvements

brid.tv platform update 6.4.7.
brid.tv platform update 6.4.7.

With our last major platform update, we introduced header bidding analytics for all publishers on our Premium plan at no additional fee. Since then, our team has been working diligently on several major improvements to our player.

And we’re happy to say that they’re finally here! Here’s the highlight of the improvements we made.

Major Player Improvements

The changes we made to our player were focused on reducing its size, improving its autoplay functionality, and reducing ad loading times. These will result in significantly improved player performance and higher fill rates.

After these changes, publishers can expect the following:

  • 10% faster first ad request
  • 20% faster ad impression time
  • Up to 30% more ad opportunities

What’s more, these improvements have made our player greener, and they will allow your viewers to consume less energy while watching your content.

We hope these improvements serve you well!

Full 6.4.7. Changelog

Here’s a complete list of changes that came with the 6.4.7. update:

New

  • We pushed a significant performance update to the Brid HTML5 player — it is now 10kb lighter. We also did some under-the-hood changes that have improved autoplay and ad loading significantly.
  • Changed the UI for our marketplace program to be more clear about your current account status.

Added

  • Added pagination support for playlists inside the CMS.
  • Added lazy loading to thumbnails for content units.
  • Added more configuration options for sticky content units.
  • Added error message handling for live streams that fail to start for any reason.
  • Updated our plan descriptions to take into account newly added platform features.
  • Added even more sticky player configuration options.
  • Added compatibility to our async embed codes so that the order in which the JS is called does not matter.
  • Added a copy option to different site properties for outstream ad units.

Fixed

  • Fixed an issue where the player would not playback custom player implementations with video URLs that had a period in them.
  • Fixed a bug where you could create custom marketplace reports and schedule them without a valid email account.
  • Fixed a minor bug so that the route for content unit creation is more descriptive.
  • Fixed the sound on the mouse rollover option for the player.
  • Fixed m4a files being sent to our encoding engine during the batch MRSS import process even though they have been specifically selected not to be transcoded.
  • Fixed a minor issue when saving a player using the prebid option for a complete external implementation.
  • Fixed a rare issue where a saved live stream would not be recorded properly.
  • Deprecated Facebook Instant Article embed codes.
